Our Governing Body consists of:

Kay Higgins

My name is Kay Higgins.  I have 16 years of School Business Management (SBM) experience in both Primary and Secondary Schools.  I am currently the Business Manager at Queen’s Park High School, Chester (Secondary) responsible for all aspects of Business Management.

As a Specialist Leader in Education I have coordinated Conferences and CPD for School Business Managers across Wirral and Cheshire and have supported many schools and colleagues in many areas surrounding the role of SBM, particularly in financial management.  I have been on the Board of Governors supporting Woodslee Primary School for two years; I am delighted to have been asked to stay on as Chair of the Governing Body.

Jan Lambeth

My name is Jan Lambeth and I am a very recently retired Head Teacher from Wirral. In my 41 year career I have worked in a range of schools in Wallasey, Birkenhead and Heswall. For the last 20 years I have been Head teacher of two schools in Wirral. In both Headships I have experienced moving the schools from having significant problems to “Good with Outstanding features” in Ofsted inspections. This involved coaching and supporting teams with ambitious focused action plans using a range of school improvement strategies. Innovative and creative approaches had an impact on outcomes in both schools.

I have worked for the local authority ( LA ) as an Advisory teacher for Maths, Local Leader of Education, Basic Skills Assessor and a School Improvement Partner. In all these roles, I have experience of providing challenge and support to Leadership teams, staff, parents, children and governors. I am passionate about the central role of Education in improving children’s life chances.

More recently I was appointed Vice Chair of Governors at Mersey Park Primary. I look forward to working with everyone at Woodslee Primary School,  bringing a fresh outlook to governance arrangements and securing a sound basis for the school’s future improvement. Our main function as an governing body is to promote high standards of educational achievement and I am an enthusiastic member of that team.

As the Headteacher of Woodslee Primary School, I am also a Governor.  I am in my first year as Headteacher of Woodslee . Prior to joining the team at I was Deputy and Acting Head teacher at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, visiting the cinema and spending time with my family.   I have a little boy who keeps me on my toes, but I love spending my time with him most of all.
Vicky Osborne (EYFS Teacher)
My name is Vicky Osborne.  I am a staff Governor and have worked at Woodslee Primary School for seven years.  In this time time I have worked closely with parents and staff to provide the best opportunities for all of our children.  I am currently teaching Foundation Two and enjoy teaching this year group very much.  I became a teacher because I love working with children.  I studied at John Moore’s University and have worked in schools across Merseyside.  At home, I live with my partner Jon and our daughter Daisy who attends Woodslee Primary School.  The governing body of Woodslee Primary School is incredibly supportive of the schools vision and this is something I am very proud to be a part of.  The school is thriving and that is why I became a governor in July 2017, to offer support but to also involves staff in how decisions are addressed and made..  It has been a pleasure supporting this school and I thoroughly enjoy being a Governor!
Mrs Jennifer Bather (Parent Governor)
My name is Jen Bather and I became a parent Governor at Woodslee in January 2016.  I studied teacher training at Edge Hill University from 2005, and although this is not the career I decided to pursue, I do still have a sound knowledge of the education system and of the curriculum in general which is useful in my role as a Governor.

I am currently the Head Receptionist in a local hotel which I thoroughly enjoy, as there is never a dull moment.  I live in Bromborough with my husband and our two sons; our eldest is currently in year 3 at Woodslee, and our youngest will join the school in September.  I am also the Chair of the Woodslee PTA, where we organise events to raise money to help enrich the experience of every child during their time here at the school. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking our dog, and socialising with friends.

I am immensely proud to be a part of Woodslee and will continue to work alongside the Headteacher and staff to ensure that our wonderful school continues to move forward, whist staying true to the school’s vision and values, and following the Woodslee Way, in order to ensure that all of our children receive the best possible education and school experience while they are here.

Chris Weatherston

Jerry Quayle (Parent Governor)

My name is Jerry Quayle, I am the father to 3 children at Woodslee Primary School. I am passionate about the education of children, not only do I have 3 small children but 4 grown children who have all experienced different educational regimes, a journey I shared with them.   Being the Director of my own company with a Worldwide reach and having spent the last 25 years travelling for business from the USA to China, I have first-hand experience with diverse cultures and environments and how the parents of children of school age cope with their local and particular needs.

Education is a privilege in many parts of the globe and we must make the most of what we can offer our children to make them able to contribute to our society in positive ways.

In the outside world I work in the area construction and will be adding my knowledge of this to the school built environment as a governor.

From September 2017 they will form the new Full Governing Body.
