World Down Syndrome Day
Time: 8:50 am
Wednesday 21st March is Down Syndrome Awareness Day. To show our support we would like to ask children to wear odd socks, other brightly coloured socks, long socks, printed socks, 1 sock… even 3 socks for 3 chromosomes. The choice is yours, but we ask you to join us wearing something people will ask you about so that you can tell them all about WDSD. It is easy to do. So whether you are at home, nursery, school, college, university, work, play, travel, holiday or anywhere, join in! Why not invite all your friends, family and colleagues to do the same?

Pokemon GO
Time: 8:50 am
Chestnut and Sycamore classes will be taking part in Pokémon GO workshops on Tuesday 27th March. Niantic Labs, the people behind Pokémon GO are very generously sponsoring this activity, however the children do not need to access the game, it is just being used as a tool to look at maps, co-ordinates, history and heritage. We will be talking about important places and what makes a place important to individuals, and using compasses to look at cardinal points and directions. At the end of the session each child will have a leaflet which encourages them to nominate their own PokéStop which when verified will be added to the worldwide game of Pokémon GO. There will be a prize for the school who nominates most PokéStop places. A separate letter will follow about this after the workshop.
